Why Is It Always Sundaze?
I started alwayssundaze—admittedly—because my TikTok was hacked. Suddenly, I had way too much time to think about life after work. What did I want the next four years to look like with no set structure?
Then I saw a tweet about reconnecting with your childhood self—about revisiting the hobbies younger you loved.
So, what did I love as a kid? Dancing, reading, and writing.
Dancing is mostly off the table—I did it so much that I needed hip surgery at 20 and now take anti-inflammatories daily (lol). But reading and writing? Still here. I was the kid who created elaborate storylines for my American Girl dolls and Barbies. The second I convinced my parents to buy me a Flip Camera (remember those?), I was writing, directing, and acting out my own stories for a tiny YouTube audience.
I didn’t become the producer I once imagined, but alwayssundazee has and will become my creative outlet—for both my younger and current self.
alwayssundaze—because Sundays have always been my happiest daze. The kind where I feel productive, fulfilled, and intentional. The kind I want to carry into every day.
So it’s alwayssundazee.
(When your name is Jhayce, why spell anything normal?)
Hi, I’m Jhayce
Hi, I’m Jhayce (pronounced like Jace)! I graduated from Howard University in May 2024 and moved to New York City for my big-girl job. Since then, I’ve been navigating the highs and lows of post-grad life and adulting.
alwayssundaze is my space to yap about my thoughts, feelings, and the things I love. I’m all about traveling, trying new restaurants, reading—and you can usually find me at Solidcore or walking crazy distances in NYC (despite my weak hip).
